Super Six’s Capstone project creates a simple way to play a simple game of checkers between a human player and a computer. The solution we have created allows the human player to utilize their eye movement to move checker pieces on a board through the use of eye tracking glasses and a universal gripper. By tracking the user's eye movements, individuals with motor-based neuron diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), will have the opportunity to play board games like checkers with little to no effort at all. At this point in time, these individuals are limited to using expensive and complicated computer equipment and software to play board games online or on their computer. Our design sought out to solve this problem by allowing these individuals to play checkers with just their eye movement.
